I, too, loved Aden (not in the summer). We were still eating canned vegetables years after your family left Aden, when we were in Jibla. My favorite were the ful or fava beans, probably canned in Ethiopia. Anyway, your main point is well taken. Empathy, praying for your "enemy", reacting slowly to perceived and real threats, taking the high road.....always a better way than reacting in kind. I look forward to trying this recipe; it will taste doubly good!
